Let’s talk Swedish environmental politics!
Are you curious and/or worried about Swedish environmental politics?
Are you interested in politics in general—and environmental politics in particular—and want to discuss these topics with us from a degrowth perspective? Then this meeting is for you!
2026 is an election year in Sweden—nationally, regionally, and locally. The Institute of Degrowth Studies invites you to an evening discussion about Swedish politics as a kick-start to this election year. Together with a representant from Naturskyddsföreningen (the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation), we will talk about Swedish environmental politics from a degrowth perspective.
During the evening, we will give a short introduction to the Swedish political landscape and environmental politics—both nationally and locally—and discuss what is at stake in this election. We want to create an open conversation with all participants!
For those who would like to continue the conversation afterwards, we will probably head to Mässingshornet for a social drink and/or food.
The event is primarily planned as a conversation about Swedish environmental politics for our many non-Swedish or non-Swedish-speaking degrowth members, whether you are an active or passive member.
This evening is particularly relevant if you are new to Sweden or new to voting in Sweden (Did you know that non-citizen residents can vote in municipal and regional elections?) All Swedish-speaking members are, of course, more than welcome to join and help make the conversation as interesting as possible!
We will share some materials beforehand. But for those of you who can’t wait, feel free to try Naturskyddsföreningen’s climate and nature election compass from the 2022 election (only in Swedish—but not too difficult to translate):
